"The only time I use bait is when I'm ice fishing, and I use shrimp. I used to use worms and if I was ever to go back to fishing with just a hook and bobber, I'd probably use worms again. As far as hooks go, I only use single hooks on all my lures, about a #4 size. I know that your more likely to land your fish using a treble hook, but I hate how they damage the fishes mouth if you have to release them. Now this is for fresh water fishing, catching fish from 1 to 4 pounds. For bigger fish like Northern Pike and Lake Trout I'd use a #4/0 hook. Happy fishing."
