#79 "Hey Rod.....

"Hey Rod..... my son and his family live about 5 hours away on an acreage. I know that if a disaster were to hit we could survive quite well with them. What are some precautions we should take before hand?"

"The main thing I would do is always keep my vehicle gassed up. Never ever let it get under 3/4 of a tank, and if you have the space that is safe, keep a couple of full 5 gallon gas cans on hand. If you don't use these within a year, put them in your vehicle and fill them up with fresh gas again.

Like I tell everyone else, have a bug out bag packed and ready to go for each member of your family at a moments notice. Here again, it's going to depend on the type of disaster that happens. A wildfire, flood, hurricane or earth-quack could have some roads closed or dismantled all together and you may have to use alternate routes.....if there are any available."
