"Hey Rod..... I will be building my next shelter from all natural material. Any special tools I should be using?"
"No, nothing special. All you need are basic tools like, a good knife, a hatchet and a small saw. I always carry a small saw that folds into it's wooden handle. This small saw has the teeth reversed on it, meaning that it cuts on the backstroke. I find this little saw (about 14" long folded & 20" long unfolded) cuts way better and faster than most other fold up saws on the market. I also have a 24" axe that I pack with me everywhere (in my vehicle). For a knife I pack a 6" fixed blade Old Timer with the gut hook. ( I find the gut hook handy for cutting off small roots). With these three tools you could build any kind of shelter that would last for a very long time."
