“I would choose a good knife. Not a pocket knife, something with some weight to it, like a Kukri or a Bowie knife. A knife that is universal in doing multiple functions. With a knife like this you can gut a fish, cut branches, split firewood and chop a tree if you have too. (Within reason) Get one with carbon steel, not the strongest but strong enough and you can sharpen it easier. If the steel is too hard, it will hold an edge longer, but you're going to have more trouble sharpening the blade when you're out bushwhacking. Also have a good leather sheath to look after your treasure. In the bush, this knife will be your bestest friend ever, you'll even sleep with it......but don't tell anyone.”
